Getting started
Install ORDA, put the tracker on a page, and try one real order.
1. Install
- Open ORDA — Order Tracker on the Shopify App Store.
- Choose Install. The listing is free.
- In Shopify admin, open Apps and launch ORDA.
The first screen is Activate Order Tracker.
2. Turn the tracker on
Nothing shows on the storefront until both of these are saved.
- Enable the app embed. Choose Enable in Theme Editor. In App embeds, turn ORDA on. It may be listed as Orda Core. Choose Save.
- Add the block. Choose Add App Block, or in the theme editor add the Order tracker block to the page shoppers should use. A page you link as "Track order" is the usual place. Place the block, then Save.
The setup screen checks both steps. When they are done, you can leave it.
3. Match the block to the theme
On the Order tracker block, set:
- Card background and section background
- Text colour
- Font and font size
Save the theme. There is no separate styling screen inside the app.
4. Look up an order
On the storefront page, the shopper enters:
- The order number from the confirmation (with or without
#) - The email on the order, or the phone on the order or its shipping address
The box is labeled Email address. The check accepts that email, and it also accepts the phone on the order or the shipping address when a phone number is what they enter. If the box will not take a phone number, use the email from the order.
Both have to match. An order number alone shows nothing. A blank email or phone shows nothing. The shopper does not sign in.
When the pair matches, they see:
- Payment status and fulfillment status
- A short progress line: placed, processing, shipped, and delivered when those dates exist
- Each shipment on its own, with its status, the carrier and tracking link when the fulfillment has them, and the items in that parcel
- Delivered with the date, or Estimated delivery with the date, when Shopify stored one on that shipment
If the fulfillment has no tracking number, the status and items still show. Add the tracking number on the fulfillment in Shopify admin, then look the order up again.
5. Optional: a delivery date on the product page
The tracking screens on the listing show an estimated delivery date. The product-page date is separate from the date on a shipment. You write it.
- In the theme editor, open a product template and add the Estimated delivery block. Set its background, text colour, font, and size, then save.
- In ORDA, open Delivery rules and add a rule:
- Rule name
- Country code (two letters, such as
US) or leave it blank for any country - Product tag, or leave it blank for any product
- Order cut-off time in your store's timezone, as 24-hour
HH:MM - Processing days
- Transit days, minimum and maximum (minimum cannot be higher than maximum)
- Count working days only, if weekends should not count
- Priority (a higher number wins when several rules match)
- Use as the default rule for everything else
- The first rule you add becomes the default.
Before the cut-off, shoppers see how long is left and the arrival window ("Order in the next … to get it by …"). After the cut-off, they see the window for an order placed today ("Order today, arrives …"). If nothing matches, the block shows nothing.
6. See lookups in the admin
The Home page totals lookups: how many, how many were found, how many were not, and the success rate. Delivery performance shows on-time delivery, average transit time, and delay rate once delivered shipments exist.
The date range is the last 7 days, the last 30 days (the default), the last 90 days, or all time.
All Requests lists each lookup with the order number, the email or phone that was entered, whether it was found, how many times it was tried, and the first and last time. A found lookup can open the order in Shopify admin.
7. Point shoppers at the page
Link the page where you added the Order tracker block:
- The footer or a "Track order" menu item
- The shipping or order confirmation message you already send
- The reply you use for "where is my order?"
Send them that page, and tell them to use the order number plus the email or phone from checkout.
Try it yourself
Use a real order. Enter its number and the email or phone on it. You should see that order's shipments, not anyone else's.
