Getting started

Install Workify from the Shopify App Store, choose Basic, Plus, or Business, and start the 3-day trial. Then post a job, put the board on your theme, and review applications in the admin.

Post a job

  1. In the Shopify admin, open Workify, then Jobs, and create a job.
  2. On Basic Information, enter the job title, employment type, and city. Employment type is full-time, part-time, contract, or per diem. State is optional.
  3. Add pay as an amount and a period (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly), and a company logo, if you want them on the listing.
  4. Write the Job description. Requirements, benefits, credential level, work setting, and an expiration date are optional.
  5. Choose whether a resume or a cover letter is required.
  6. On Application questions, add what this job should ask. Basic includes one custom question. Plus and Business do not limit custom questions.
  7. Publish the job, or save it as a draft. A draft is not on the board. Basic allows one published job at a time. To publish a different one, archive the job that is live, or move to Plus.

You can also start from a ready-made job and edit it before you publish.

Put the board on your store

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Add a section and choose Workify or Workify Job List.
  3. Save the theme.

The board only lists published jobs. Use Workify Job List in full mode for the board, or teaser mode for a short list that links to the full board.

To stop new applications, open the job and choose Close job, Mark as hired, or Archive job. You cannot delete a job that already has applications.

Applications

  1. Open Applications. A new application arrives with the status New.
  2. Open it to read the answers, the resume, and the cover letter, and to add an internal note.
  3. Move it to Reviewed, Contacted, Interview, Hired, or Not a fit. The list can be a table or a board. Accepting a candidate is a hire. Rejecting a candidate is not a fit.
  4. Withdrawn is only a filter. It means the applicant pulled their own application. You do not set that status.
  5. Basic does not send email. On Plus and Business, a status change can email the applicant. Edit those messages in Settings → Emails.
  6. On Plus and Business, customize the public board in Settings → Jobs Page. Basic keeps the standard design.

A resume, when you require one, can be a PDF, Word document, RTF, text file, or ODT file, up to 10 MB.

Approval

Approval is for the Business plan, after you turn employers on. Jobs you post yourself go live when you publish them. They do not wait in an approval queue.

  1. Open Settings → Addons and turn on Employers / Job Board.
  2. That adds Employers, the membership form, the job submission form, and the employer portal.
  3. Optional: in the theme editor, add Workify Member Form, Workify Submit Job, or Workify Employer Portal.
  4. A company asks to join. Under Employers, approve the request, ask for more information, or reject it. The company is emailed for that decision.
  5. In Settings → Employer Settings, you can instead approve new employers on their own.
  6. An approved employer submits a job from the portal. It is created as Pending approval and is not public.
  7. Under Jobs, open that job. Choose Approve & publish, request changes, or Reject submission. The employer is emailed for each of those decisions.
  8. The same Employer Settings control whether a submitted job must be reviewed, is published on its own, or is rejected on its own.

Approved employers sign in to the portal with an email code. They can see their jobs and, when you allow it, their applicants.

Forms

  1. Open Settings → Forms.
  2. Application Form is what every candidate fills in. Full name, email, and phone start on the form. Relabel a field, change its order, make it required, hide it, or add your own.
  3. On Business, Membership Form is the request to join the job board. It asks for the company name, a logo, and a contact. Job Submission is what an employer fills in, and it is the same form you use when you post a job yourself.
  4. Field types are short text, long text, number, email, phone, link, date, dropdown, multi-select, radio, and checkboxes.
  5. You can show a question only when an earlier answer matches. A hidden question is not required and is not saved.

The one custom question on Basic is the extra question on a job, not a limit on renaming the standard fields.
