Gift Card Checker changelog

These notes cover changes that matter when you run the app. A new entry is added at the top when something is ready.

September 2026​

13 September: One expiry reminder per card​

  • Each gift card gets its expiry reminder once.

7 September: Fixes from merchant feedback​

  • Opening the theme editor from setup steps 3 and 4 marks them done.
  • Finishing setup shows the result without a refresh.
  • Store credit that was issued is no longer reported as failed.
  • A store credit amount is capped at 1,000,000.
  • A mistyped code shows as not found, not as failed.
  • Gift cards with no customer no longer show an empty customer panel.

5 September: A wait screen instead of an error​

  • If the app cannot reach its server for a moment, you see a wait message instead of an error page.

3 September: Bottom bar and review button​

  • Pages and a review button are on the bottom bar.
  • The settings gear opens Settings.

August 2026​

22 August: Discounts and store credit, when you want them​

  • Turn on discount codes or store credit beside gift cards. Both stay off until you enable them.
  • Credit a whole customer segment, and see what each customer holds.
  • On a customer page in Shopify, see the gift cards, discounts, and store credit they have.
  • Start a gift card, discount, or store credit action from Shopify Flow.
  • Edit the emails the app sends.
  • When many discount codes are being created, you can watch the progress.

June 2026​

6 June: Your own message when a code cannot be checked​

  • Write the message shoppers see when a gift card code cannot be checked.

February 2026​

11 February: A checker you can style​

  • Choose a look for the balance checker on the storefront.

September 2025​

26 September: A balance check during checkout​

  • Shoppers can see a gift card balance at checkout.

April 2025​

17 April: Gift cards you already issued​

  • Pull gift cards Shopify already has into the app, so you can search cards that were issued before you installed.

15 April: Check a balance on the storefront​

  • Customers look up a gift card balance on the online store.
