Schedule a theme or a section
Theme Scheduler has two jobs. Publish a theme at a set time, or change sections and blocks on a theme without republishing it.
Both use the store's timezone from Shopify settings.
Publish a theme
Use this when a whole theme should become the live theme. A sale theme, a holiday theme, or a launch theme are the usual cases.
- Open the app and choose Schedule Theme Publish.
- Give the schedule a name only your team sees.
- Select the theme.
- Set the date and time.
- Choose One Time Schedule, or Recurring Schedule and a repeat: hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
- Save, then find it on Home under theme publishes.
To change it before it runs, edit the date or choose Stop on a repeat. To remove it before it runs, delete it. After it has run, archive it. Deleting a finished schedule is refused.
Change a section or block
Use this when the live theme should stay, and only a part of a page should change. Advanced includes one sections-and-blocks schedule. Maestro does not have that limit.
- Choose Schedule Content and select an Online Store 2.0 theme.
- If the theme cannot be opened, it is not supported for content scheduling. You can still schedule a theme publish for it.
- Use Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Select the template. The home page is the usual start. Leave the market control on the store default.
- Select a section, or a block inside it.
- Choose what should happen:
- Show or Hide the section or block.
- Change the text, image, color, or other setting on it. That covers a banner, a slideshow slide, a promotion, and the top bar.
- Set Start time. Turn on Make this schedule recurring if it should repeat, and set how many times.
- Open the summary. It lists what will be shown, hidden, removed, or reordered.
- Save.
Show does not hide it first
Show makes the section visible at the start time. If shoppers can already see it, it stays visible until then. Hide it in the Shopify theme editor, or add an earlier Hide schedule, if it should stay down until the promotion starts.
Hide takes it off the page at the start time. Put a later Show on the schedule if it should come back.
Order and removal
Drag a section or block by its icon to a new position. That new order is part of the schedule.
Remove a block with the remove control on its row. A section can be removed when the theme allows it. A page's main section usually cannot. Undo a removal from the same row before you save, or edit the schedule while it is still pending.
Check it before it runs
Preview shows the scheduled section and block changes. It does not include theme-wide settings. Those still apply when the schedule runs. The live theme is unchanged until the start time.
Where it shows up
Home lists theme publishes and content schedules on separate tabs, and can show them on a calendar. Timeline is the ordered view of theme publishes. History is the record after something runs.
